This year marked a very special milestone as Amy and Friends celebrated its 20th Conference.

For two decades, Amy and Friends has brought together families, friends, professionals and supporters from across the community, creating opportunities to share experiences, learn from one another and, most importantly, build lasting friendships and support.

The 20th Conference was a particularly special occasion, giving everyone the chance to celebrate the journey so far, reflect on the incredible achievements of the past 20 years and look ahead to the future.

It was wonderful to welcome so many familiar faces, as well as those joining us for the first time. The conference was filled with inspiring talks, valuable information, shared experiences, laughter and plenty of opportunities to catch up with friends.

Reaching 20 conferences is a remarkable achievement, made possible by the dedication of everyone who has supported Amy and Friends over the years. We are incredibly grateful to all the families, volunteers, professionals, fundraisers, supporters and friends who have been part of this journey.

Most importantly, the conference was a reminder of the strength and importance of our community. Together, we continue to raise awareness, support families and make a difference to the lives of those affected by rare conditions.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make the last 20 years so special.

It’s so difficult to put into words what these few days mean. They are filled with love, sadness, hope, laughter, tears, learning, remembering and everything in between.

It’s about welcoming new families into a community none of us ever expected to need, but one that quickly becomes family. It’s about seeing familiar faces again, catching up as though no time has passed, reminiscing about years gone by and remembering those who should still be sitting amongst us.

For a few precious days, nobody has to explain. Nobody has to justify. Everybody just gets it.

We laugh, we cry, we learn, we remember, we make new memories and, most importantly, we do it together.

“For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.”

Until next time
